WITT Power Summit: UCC Will Be Implemented in the Country After Elections, Necessary Analysis Will Be Done Before That: Amit Shah

At the White India Thinks Today (WITT) Power Summit, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that it would be implemented in the country after the elections, preceded by necessary analysis.

In response to a question, he mentioned that while UCC might be a political issue for some, it is primarily a social reform. He emphasized the demand of democracy that laws in the country should not be based on any religion but should be in line with the current situation and in the interest of the people. He reminded everyone of the vision laid down by our Constituent Assembly in Article 44, stating that the Legislature and Parliament of the country will enact a Uniform Civil Code at the appropriate time.

Remembering the words of his grandfather, he highlighted the promises made by the BJP since its inception, including the removal of Article 370, implementation of a Uniform Civil Code, abolition of triple talaq, and construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He questioned the change in stance of the Congress party, reminding them of the views expressed by leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, and KM Munshi in the Constituent Assembly regarding the UCC.

He stressed the importance of thorough scrutiny, stating that while the UCC has been implemented in Uttarakhand, it requires social, judicial, and legal scrutiny, considering its significance. He mentioned that after the elections, all states will deliberate on it, and it will eventually be implemented nationwide.

Addressing the misconceptions about the UCC being labeled as the Hindu Code Bill, Amit Shah stated that some people are trying to spread confusion. He pointed out that followers of Hinduism have also embraced various social reforms, citing examples such as the anti-dowry law, abolition of sati practice, and discontinuation of the practice of having multiple wives.

Speaking about corruption, he accused the Congress of being involved in scams worth 12 lakh crore rupees over 10 years, ranging from the Devaas scam in the sky to coal mine scams in the depths of the earth. He called for accountability, stating that even the best lawyers are in the Congress, and if there is fear, one should go to court, seek bail, and if arrested, come out on bail.

Regarding the misuse of central agencies, Amit Shah clarified that only 5% of cases handled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are related to politicians, while 95% involve individuals deeply involved in corruption, with no connection to politics or political parties.
